Merry Christmas!

1)
The Nativity Play recreates the scene of Jesus’ birth in the stable and tells of how Mary and Joseph were visited by the Shepherds and Wise Men. The parts of Mary, Joseph, the Shepherds and the Wise Men are played by the children. In our school, the Year 3 children perform a Nativity to the whole school and to proud parents.

2)
Caroling (singing carols in the street) is one of the oldest customs in Great Britain, going back to the Middle Ages when beggars, seeking food, money, or drink, would wander the streets singing holiday songs.

3)
A pantomime is a traditional British Christmas play. In pantomimes the male roles are often played by women and female roles by men. This makes the audience laugh more. Audience participation is an important part of a pantomime.

4)
Mince pies small pies, usually between 2 and 3 inches in diameter (5-7.5 centimetres), filled with mincemeat (Minced fruit not meat. In the US, mincemeat is known by the more accurate name "fruitmince".) They should traditionally have a star on top, to represent the Christmas Star which some believe led the shepherds and Magi to the baby Jesus in Bethlehem.
